Reported speech adalah sebuah cara untuk menyampaikan pidato atau kalimat orang lain tanpa mengulangi kata-kata asli mereka. Dalam reported speech, kita menggunakan kata-kata sendiri untuk menyampaikan makna kalimat asli. Berikut adalah 5 contoh kalimat reported speech:
1. Direct Speech: "I'm going to the store," said John.
Reported Speech: John said that he was going to the store.
Dalam contoh di atas, kalimat direct speech "I'm going to the store" diubah menjadi reported speech "John said that he was going to the store".
2. Direct Speech: "I will meet you at 5 o'clock," she said.
Reported Speech: She said that she would meet me at 5 o'clock.

Perlu diingat
- dalam reported speech, kita menggunakan kata-kata "said" atau "told" untuk mengawali kalimat.
- kita perlu mengubah waktu și kondisi dalam kalimat direct speech untuk sesuai dengan waktu dan kondisi saat kita berbicara.
- kita perlu mengubah kata-kata "I", "you", "he", "she", "it" menjadi "he", "she", "it", "they" dalam reported speech.
