1 Samuel 5:1-5
The Ark in Ashdod
v. 1-2 "Philistines brought the ark to Ashdod and set it beside Dagon, in the temple of Dagon. The people of Ashdod came to see the ark of the Lord, and the people of Ashdod were afraid."
Setelah ark of the Lord dibawa ke Ashdod, orang-orang Philistine meletakkannya di samping patung Dagon di dalam kuil Dagon. Penduduk Ashdod datang untuk melihat ark Tuhan, dan mereka takut.
v. 3 "But the hand of the Lord was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and He caused mice to infest them, and the people were afflicted."
Namun, tangan Tuhan berat atas penduduk Ashdod, dan Dia menyebabkan tikus menghuni mereka, dan penduduk itu menderita.
v. 4-5 "So they took Dagon and set him back in his place. But the hand of the Lord was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and He struck them down, and tumors broke out on them."
Maka mereka mengambil Dagon dan meletakkannya kembali di tempatnya. Namun, tangan Tuhan berat atas penduduk Ashdod, dan Dia menghukum mereka, dan tumor timbul pada mereka.
1 Samuel 5:6-12
The Ark in Gath
v. 6-8 "So they took the ark of God to Gath, but the hand of the Lord was against the city, causing a great panic; He struck the men of the city, both small and great, and tumors broke out on them."
Maka mereka membawa ark of God ke Gath, tapi tangan Tuhan melawan kota itu, menyebabkan kepanikan besar; Dia menghukum pria-pria kota itu, mulai dari yang kecil sampai yang besar, dan tumor timbul pada mereka.
v. 9-10 "Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron, but it came about that as the ark of God came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, 'They have brought the ark of the God of Israel around to us, to kill us and our people!'"

v. 11-12 "They called all the rulers of the Philistines and said, 'Send the ark of the God of Israel away, and let it return to its own place, so that it does not kill us and our people.' For there was a deadly panic throughout the city; the hand of God was very heavy there."
