1 Samuel 25:22 - The Vow of David
The Context
In 1 Samuel 25, we find the story of David's encounter with Nabal, a wealthy and ill-tempered man who refused to show hospitality to David and his men. David, who was on the run from King Saul, had been living in the wilderness with his 600 men, and they had been protecting Nabal's shepherds and flocks. However, when David sent a group of men to ask for Nabal's help, Nabal responded with scorn and contempt.
The Vow
In response to Nabal's refusal, David made a vow, as recorded in 1 Samuel 25:22:
"May God deal with David, be it ever so severely, if by morning light any of the men who follow me are still alive."

The Consequences
