1 Samuel 21-24: The Fugitive King

David flees to the cave of Adullam, where he gathers a group of outcasts and misfits who become his loyal followers. He also rescues his parents from the Philistines, who had taken them captive. Despite his difficulties, David remains faithful to God and trusts in His deliverance.
1 Samuel 23: David's Deliverance
David and his men are trapped in the city of Keilah, surrounded by the Philistines. David inquires of the Lord, and God delivers them from their enemies. However, David knows that Saul will continue to pursue him, and he flees to the wilderness of Ziph.
1 Samuel 24: David's Mercy
David and his men are hiding in the cave of En Gedi, where Saul comes to relieve himself. David's men encourage him to kill Saul, but David refuses, saying that it is not right to harm the Lord's anointed. Instead, David sneaks up behind Saul and cuts off a corner of his robe, demonstrating that he could have killed Saul but chose not to. Saul is struck by David's mercy and realizes that he has been wrong to pursue him.
