Job Summary

A 3D Designer is responsible for creating three-dimensional models, designs, and animations for various industries such as architecture, engineering, product design, film, and video games. The 3D Designer's primary role is to bring ideas and concepts to life using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other 3D modeling tools.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Creation

  • Create 3D models, textures, and materials for various projects
  • Design and develop concepts, rough sketches, and final designs for 3D models
  • Use CAD software and other 3D modeling tools to create and modify designs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design consistency and accuracy

Visualization and Animation

  • Create 3D animations, motion graphics, and visual effects for presentations, demos, and final products
  • Develop storyboards, animatics, and test animations to communicate design concepts
  • Use keyframe animation, particle simulation, and other techniques to create realistic animations

Prototyping and Testing

  • Create prototype models for testing and feedback
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure accuracy and consistency in designs
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to test and refine designs

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate design concepts and ideas effectively to clients, stakeholders, and team members
  • Collaborate with project managers, artists, and other designers to ensure project deliverables meet client requirements
  • Provide design feedback and support to junior designers and interns

Requirements and Skills

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer-Aided Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools such as Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max
  • Knowledge of animation principles, visual effects, and motion graphics
  • Familiarity with rendering software such as V-Ray or Arnold
