2 Timothy 4:1-3 NLT: A Call to Faithfulness
A Solemn Charge

1 I charge you, therefore, before God and Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead according to their deeds: 2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
The Call to Preach
In verse 1, Paul charges Timothy to fulfill his ministry before God and Christ Jesus, who will judge all people according to their deeds. This is a sobering reminder of the accountability that comes with serving as a messenger of the Gospel.
