Early Life
Tupac Amaru Shakur, commonly known as 2Pac, was born on June 16, 1971, in East Harlem, New York City. His mother, Afeni Shakur, was a member of the Black Panther Party, a radical left-wing organization that fought for civil rights and social justice.
Rise to Fame
2Pac's music career began in the early 1990s, when he started rapping in local clubs and parties. He eventually joined the rap group Digital Underground, which led to his debut album 2Pacalypse Now in 1991. The album was a commercial success, but it also sparked controversy due to its violent and graphic lyrics.
Legal Issues
In 1993, 2Pac was involved in a brutal fight in a hotel room, which led to a conviction of aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail, followed by two years of probation.
All Eyez on Me
In 1996, 2Pac released his fourth studio album, All Eyez on Me, which is considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. The album featured hit singles like "California Love" and "How Do U Want It", and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
Death and Legacy
On September 7, 1996, 2Pac was shot in Las Vegas after attending a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon. He died six days later, at the age of 25. The murder remains unsolved to this day.
