Overview
"101 Dalmatians" is a 1996 live-action comedy film directed by Stephen Herek and written by John Hughes. The movie is based on the 1961 animated Disney film of the same name, which was inspired by Dodie Smith's 1956 novel "The Hundred and One Dalmatians". The film stars Glenn Close, Jeff Daniels, and Joely Richardson.
Plot
The movie follows the story of Roger Dearly (Jeff Daniels), a video game designer, and Anita Campbell-Green (Joely Richardson), a fashion designer, who fall in love and get married. They each have a Dalmatian, Pongo and Perdita, who also fall in love and have a litter of puppies.
However, the evil Cruella de Vil (Glenn Close), Anita's former boss, sees the puppies and decides she wants their fur to make a luxurious fur coat. She offers to buy the puppies, but Roger and Anita refuse. Cruella then steals the puppies, and it's up to Pongo and Perdita to rescue them.
