The 10 Commandments of Allah (swt)

The 10 Commandments of Allah (swt) are a set of principles and guidelines that are considered essential for believers to follow in order to live a righteous and virtuous life. These commandments are mentioned in the Quran and are based on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

1. Worship only Allah (swt)

  • "Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him." (Quran 4:36)

2. Make no partners with Allah (swt)

  • "He has only forbidden to you dead animals, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah." (Quran 2:173)

3. Honor your parents

  • "And We have enjoined on man to be dutiful to his parents." (Quran 29:8)

4. Do not kill

  • "And do not kill anyone whose killing Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause." (Quran 17:33)

5. Do not commit adultery

  • "And come not near to unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is a Fahishah (i.e. anything that Allah has forbidden), and an evil way." (Quran 17:32)

6. Do not steal

  • "O you who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves unjustly except it be a trade amongst you, by mutual consent." (Quran 4:29)

7. Do not bear false witness

  • "O you who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest you harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful to what you have done." (Quran 49:6)

8. Do not covet

  • "And that you be not like those who forgot Allah, and He caused them to forget their own souls. Such are the rebellious." (Quran 59:19)

9. Do not kill a human soul

  • "Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person, except in retaliation for murder or spreading corruption, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind." (Quran 5:32)

10. Do not use Allah's name in vain

  • "Make not Allah's name an excuse for your oaths. He who makes Allah's name an excuse for his oaths, will be questioned about it on the Day of Resurrection." (Bukhari)

These commandments are considered fundamental principles of Islam and are essential for Muslims to follow in order to live a righteous and virtuous life. By following these commandments, believers can ensure their place in Paradise and avoid the wrath of Allah (swt) on the Day of Judgment.
