1 Yohanes 4:7-21: Kasih sebagai Bukti Kedekatan dengan Allah
Dalam pasal 4 dari Surat 1 Yohanes, rasul Yohanes menulis tentang pentingnya kasih dan bagaimana kasih itu dapat menjadi bukti bahwa kita benar-benar mengenal Allah. Dalam ayat 7-21, Yohanes menulis tentang pentingnya mengasihi orang lain sebagai wujud dari kasih Allah yang ada di dalam kita.
Kasih sebagai Bukti Kedekatan dengan Allah
Yohanes 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Dalam ayat 7-8, Yohanes menulis bahwa kasih adalah sifat Allah yang paling mendasar. Allah adalah kasih, dan ketika kita mengasihi orang lain, kita menunjukkan bahwa kita benar-benar mengenal Allah. Jika kita tidak mengasihi orang lain, maka kita tidak mengenal Allah.
Kasih yang sejati
Yohanes 4:9-10
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Dalam ayat 9-10, Yohanes menulis tentang kasih Allah yang sejati. Allah menunjukkan kasih-Nya dengan mengorbankan Anak-Nya yang tunggal untuk menebus dosa manusia. Kasih Allah bukan karena kita mengasihi-Nya, tapi karena Allah mengasihi kita.
Kasih yang Saling Mengasihi
Yohanes 4:11-12
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.
Dalam ayat 11-12, Yohanes menulis bahwa jika Allah mengasihi kita, maka kita juga harus mengasihi orang lain. Ketika kita mengasihi orang lain, maka Allah berdiam di dalam kita dan kasih-Nya menjadi sempurna di dalam kita.
Kasih yang Berani
Yohanes 4:13-16
By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Dalam ayat 13-16, Yohanes menulis bahwa kita dapat mengetahui bahwa kita berdiam di dalam Allah dan Allah berdiam di dalam kita ketika kita memiliki Roh Allah di dalam kita. Dan ketika kita mengaku bahwa Yesus adalah Anak Allah, maka Allah berdiam di dalam kita dan kita berdiam di dalam Allah.
Kasih yang Mengasihi Takut
Yohanes 4:17-18
Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Dalam ayat 17-18, Yohanes menulis bahwa kasih yang sempurna akan menghilangkan rasa takut kita terhadap penghakiman Allah. Ketika kita memiliki kasih yang sempurna, kita tidak perlu takut terhadap Allah karena kita tahu bahwa Allah mengasihi kita.
Kasih yang Memiliki Pengharapan
Yohanes 4:19-21
We love Him because He first loved us. If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
