The Danger of Young Widowhood

13 Besides, they learn to be idle, going from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to say. 14 So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, rule their households, and give the enemy no occasion for slander. 15 For some have already turned aside after Satan.
Paul warns that adding young widows to the list would lead to idleness, gossip, and even Satan's influence. Instead, he advises that they should marry, bear children, and manage their households, thus avoiding opportunities for Satan to slander the Christian faith.
