1 Timothy 4:1-5: A Warning Against Deception

Tagalog Translation: 1 Timoteo 4:1-5: Babala sa Laban sa Paglilinlang

Verse 1: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (KJV)

Tagalog Translation: Ngayon, ang Espiritu ay nagsasalita ng tuwiran, na sa mga huling panahon, ang ilan ay lalayo sa pananampalataya, na pinakikinggan ang mga espiritu ng pangungulila, at mga doktrina ng mga demonyo;

Explanation: In this verse, the Holy Spirit is warning us that in the latter times, some people will depart from the faith. They will be deceived by seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. This is a stern warning to Christians to be vigilant and to hold fast to the truth.

Verse 2: Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (KJV)

Tagalog Translation: Nagsasalita ng mga kasinungalingan sa panlolokong pagtitiis; ang kanilang budhi ay nasugatan ng mainit na bakal;

Explanation: These people who have departed from the faith will speak lies and hypocritically hide their true intentions. Their conscience has been seared, meaning it has become insensitive to the truth. They are no longer guided by their conscience and can do great harm to others.

Verse 3: Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. (KJV)

Tagalog Translation: Sinasabihang huwag dapat mag-asawa, at inuutusang huwag kumain ng mga pagkain, na nilikha ng Dios upang tanggapin sa pasasalamat ng mga nananalig at nakaaalam ng katotohanan.

Explanation: These deceivers will also forbid people to marry and command them to abstain from certain foods. However, God created these things to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. Marriage and food are gifts from God, and we should be thankful for them.

Verse 4: For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: (KJV)

Tagalog Translation: Sapagkat ang bawat nilalang ng Dios ay mabuti, at walang dapat itakuwil, kung ito ay tinatanggap sa pasasalamat;

Explanation: Everything that God created is good, and we should not refuse or reject any of it. We should receive everything with thanksgiving, recognizing that it comes from God.

Verse 5: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. (KJV)

Tagalog Translation: Sapagkat ito ay pinagpapahiran ng salita ng Dios at ng panalangin.

Explanation: Everything that God created is sanctified, or set apart, by the word of God and prayer. We should pray over the things we receive, and recognize that they come from God.

Conclusion: In this passage, we are warned against deception and the danger of departing from the faith. We should be vigilant and hold fast to the truth. We should also be thankful for everything that God has created, and receive it with gratitude.
