1 Peter 3:8-12 KJV: Living Harmoniously and Seeking Blessings

In 1 Peter 3:8-12, the apostle Peter continues to provide guidance on how believers should live a life that honors God. In this passage, Peter emphasizes the importance of living harmoniously with others, seeking blessings, and doing good to others.

Living in Harmony

1 Peter 3:8 KJV

"Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:"

In this verse, Peter stresses the importance of unity and harmony among believers. He urges them to be of one mind, demonstrating compassion, love, and kindness towards one another. This harmony is essential for building a strong and supportive community of faith.

Blessings and Doing Good

1 Peter 3:9-10 KJV

"Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:"

In these verses, Peter teaches that believers should not respond to evil with evil, but instead, they should bless those who mistreat them. By doing so, they will inherit a blessing from God. Peter also emphasizes the importance of controlling one's tongue, refraining from speaking evil, and living a life of integrity.

Seeking Good

1 Peter 3:11-12 KJV

"Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil."

In the final two verses, Peter encourages believers to eschew evil and do good, seeking peace and harmony with others. By doing so, they will be on the right path, and God will be attentive to their prayers. However, those who do evil will face God's judgment.
