Hope in God's Salvation
1 Peter 1:13-25 Sermon Outline
I. Introduction (v. 13-16)
- Prepare Your Minds for Action: Peter calls believers to prepare their minds for action, to be serious and sober-minded, and to set their hope fully on the grace to be brought to them when Jesus Christ is revealed.
- A Living Hope: Our hope is not based on temporary things, but on the eternal and living God.
II. Conduct in the Light of Salvation (v. 17-21)
- Conduct Yourselves in Fear: As aliens and strangers in this world, we are to conduct ourselves in fear, honoring God in all we do.
- Redeemed by the Precious Blood of Christ: We are not redeemed with perishable things, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot.
III. Living as Strangers in the World (v. 22-25)
- Purify Your Souls: We are to purify our souls in obedience to the truth, and having sincere love for the brothers, love one another fervently from the heart.
- The Living and Enduring Word of God: The word of God, which was preached to us, is the imperishable seed that will live and endure forever.
