The Wisdom of God
The book of 1 Corinthians is an epistle written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Corinth, Greece. In chapter 2, verses 7-9, Paul writes about the wisdom of God, which is often misunderstood by the world.
A Secret Wisdom
"But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory." (1 Corinthians 2:7-8, NKJV)
In these verses, Paul speaks about a secret wisdom that has been hidden for centuries. This wisdom is not of this world, but rather it is a divine wisdom that comes from God. These rulers, including Pontius Pilate and the Jewish leaders, did not understand the true nature of Jesus' mission. They saw Him as a threat to their power and authority, and therefore, they sought to eliminate Him.
For Our Glory
The wisdom of God is not just a secret; it is also a mystery that has been ordained by God for our glory. This wisdom is not meant to bring glory to ourselves or to the rulers of this age, but rather to bring glory to God. As believers, we are called to understand and reflect this wisdom, which is the very essence of God's character.
