1 Corinthians 13 4-8 Children's Version

Love is Patient, Love is Kind

What is Love?

Have you ever wondered what love is? Is it a feeling, an action, or a choice? In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, the Bible explains what love is in a very special way.

The Bible Says...

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." (1 Corinthians 13:4)

Did you know that love is patient? It means that when someone does something wrong, love waits for them to apologize and make things right. Love is also kind, which means it does nice things for others even when they don't deserve it.

Love is Not...

"It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." (1 Corinthians 13:5)

Love is not rude, which means it doesn't say mean things to hurt others. Love is not self-seeking, which means it doesn't think only of itself. Love is not easily angered, which means it doesn't get upset quickly. And love keeps no record of wrongs, which means it forgives and forgets.

What Love Does...

"Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." (1 Corinthians 13:6-7)

Love does the opposite of what we might want to do. It doesn't enjoy seeing bad things happen, but instead rejoices in the truth. Love always protects, which means it takes care of others. Love always trusts, which means it believes in others. Love always hopes, which means it looks forward to good things happening. And love always perseveres, which means it never gives up.

The Most Important Thing...

"Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away." (1 Corinthians 13:8)

The most important thing to remember is that love never fails. No matter what happens, love will always be there.

What Can We Do?

So, how can we show love to others? We can be patient and kind, forgive and forget, and always trust and protect each other. Let's make a choice to love others the way God loves us!
