1 Corinthians 10 13 Amplified Version

1 Corinthians 10:13 (Amplified Version)

A Promise of Deliverance from Temptation

"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it."

In this verse, Paul reminds us that God is faithful and will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability to resist. He will provide a way of escape, enabling us to endure the temptation.

The Reality of Temptation

Temptation is a universal human experience. Every person, regardless of their background, age, or spiritual maturity, faces temptation at some point in their lives. Paul acknowledges this reality, stating that "no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind." This means that we are not alone in our struggles with temptation.

God's Faithfulness

However, Paul also reminds us that God is faithful. This is a recurring theme throughout Scripture, emphasizing God's reliability and trustworthiness. In this context, God's faithfulness means that He will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability to resist. He knows our limits and will not push us beyond what we can bear.

The Way of Escape

The amplified version of 1 Corinthians 10:13 highlights the second part of God's promise: "but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it." This verse offers us hope and encouragement. God does not leave us to face temptation alone; instead, He provides a way of escape, enabling us to endure the temptation.

Enduring Temptation

Paul's use of the word "endure" is significant. Enduring temptation does not mean that we will never experience difficult or trying circumstances. Rather, it means that we will be able to withstand the temptation, emerging stronger and more mature on the other side.

Conclusion

In 1 Corinthians 10:13, Paul reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles with temptation. God is faithful and will provide a way of escape, enabling us to endure the temptation. As we face the challenges of life, let us hold onto God's promises, trusting in His faithfulness and relying on His strength to see us through.
